How to Take a Vacation Trip to the Casino

We have no idea how or why we decided to take a vacation trip to the casino or if it was planned, but a trip we planned to visit relatives in Louisiana turned out to be a three-week trip that included more casinos than we knew. existed on the east coast. Starting in rural New York State, we went west for a short time on Route 84 and then turned south on Route 81. We made this trip in late June, so that the daily weather wasn’t a factor and we could enter and leave the region. mountainous areas without fear of falling in a snowstorm. The weather was wonderful, the scenery was spectacular and, as we had no schedule to follow, we traveled the miles we wanted every day and stopped whenever any type of attraction drew our attention. We had in mind to stop at some gold mining sites that we found fun on the internet and we spent a lot of time looking for the various gems and even panning for real gold.

Our first gold mining stop was in Cherokee, North Carolina, and we had a ball. Of course it is a tourist trap with buckets of dirt, but the fun of panning and finding some small opals, emeralds or maybe a tourmaline stone is fun. As we had lost track of time and it was late, we asked if there was accommodation nearby and were taken to a nearby Days Inn. Nothing fancy, but clean and warm and it had a restaurant where we could eat something for dinner. After eating, we decided to take a quick tour to see what else the area offered (it is quite remote). At the end of the street was Harrah’s Indian casino. As we are player cards that transport Harrah’s customers, we concluded that we can also go in and try our luck. As usual, I had none. My wife, however, sitting at a slot machine, managed to win a jackpot worth more than $ 2700. Not bad, not bad. This certainly helped the holiday bank a little. We left the casino quickly before the money could be returned to another slot machine.

We left Cherokee the next morning and headed south, towards Memphis, to see the site and the Elvis museum  link cmd368, and then we planned to go to Nashville. Elvis’ site took most of the day with the house and main grounds, the museum and its planes to see. Once again we located a local motel and, while looking at the rooms, my wife jokingly said to the employee, “Any casinos around here?” The official replied that Tunica, Mississippi, was only a short drive away and that there were many casinos there. Yes, there we went again. Shortly thereafter, we arrived in Túnica and were amazed by the number of casinos on the main strip. Harrahs, Sam’s Towns, The Palace, Fitzgerald’s Irish Casino, Bally’s, Gold Strike and so on. We found rooms in Harrahs and started to visit the various casinos. At each casino, if you join the players club, you receive a draw card and many also have little good luck charms. We now have dozens in our collection.

We stayed in the Tunic for two days, as our luck was going very well and my wife got a spot for $ 500 on her first $ 1 bet on Fitzgeralds and went out the door. We tried the different restaurants in the casinos and, as it was the weather in June, Harrah’s pool was also inviting.

We then went further south in Louisiana to visit the family in Slidell. Slidell is a short drive from New Orleans, so of course we were going to see the attractions there as well. We did the French Quarter along with the buggy and trolley tours. The outside cafes were out of this world with their seafood. All the small shops to visit and the cemeteries are also not to be missed. The tombs built of shells and sea rocks are incredible things to see. When you walk towards the west side of New Orleans, you cannot miss the Morial Convention Center and the River Walk. Both are worth a visit. On the same street, a few blocks away, is New Orleans Harrah’s Casino. We got there at dinner time and decided to make the buffet and play some hands of cards. This time, it was my turn to win and, in fact, I won. Playing three-card poker until four in the morning and I couldn’t stand to stay up anymore, we lost $ 3500 richer from playing a $ 25 dollar table.
